About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Am on April 2014 cruise to Tokyo and flying from Tokyo to Shanghai for 1 night to take another ship.

I am a USA citizen and will be in transit for 24 hours from Shanghai airport to Baoshan Cruise terminal (April25-26, 2014) flying in on China Eastern Airlines, leaving on Celebrity Cruise.
What visa must I have and is there a place where I can get it in the USA in one day?

The time from your flight landing to the departure time of your ship is just 24 hours?
If so, you may not need it. Passengers can enjoy the 24-hour free transit if their transfering time is less than 24 hours.

If you want to apply one, you need to apply for a Transit G and it cannot be got in one day. At least, you need to have around four working days to get it.
