Want to live in China

I am a 70 year old with a Chinese wife.
We live in Melbourne but want to relocate to China and apply for me a resident visa.
Can anyone help me or give me advice as the consul in Melbourne are not replying to my emails.
What would be the best procedure to follow as we have a house to sell etc.
Spme one suggested getting a 3month one and then when in China apply for a 3 year one. easier and cheaper.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Does your Chinese wife has a Chinese passport? If she has, you can try to apply for a Q1 type. After you get Q1, you need to apply for a resident permit to stay in China for a long time. The time you can stay is over 180 days. Then you just need to renew your resident permit every year to live in China for a long time.

Permanent resident permit is hardly to get, so Q1 type is much suitable, in my opinion.
