Traveling from Hong Kong to mainland China

Hello,
My fiancee will be traveling to Shenzhen, China on a work visa for one year. She is a Philippine citizen, currently working in Hong Kong. Will she need to go through customs when traveling from Hong Kong to China? Can she transport gold with her, and will she have to declare it? Thank you.

Yes, she has to go through the immigration when going from HK to SZ. This procedure cannot be avoided by taking any transportation.
