TPE - PVG - HKG: will this qualify?

I'm looking to have a stopover in Shanghai for 10 hours, flying from Taipei to Hong Kong. Will this qualify for the 72 hour transit visa? From my understanding, I can just apply for the stay permit upon arrival at PVG if I want to leave the airport. No Transit G, registration or other visa required?

Since your trip is Taipei - Shanghai - HK, you are qualified for the 72-hour free transit policy and your understanding is right. Remember to bring your valid passport and your onward confirmed ticket when applying for the stay permit.
