as I wish to continue my world trip. do I need a invitation letter or is hotel booking enough?I am British passport holder

It is possible to apply it in UAE and you can have a try. However, it is not certain that you can get in the end. When applying, you can provide your hotel booking & round trip tickets or invitation letter from China besides your passport and application form with a recent taken photo.
