About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am flying from Sydney to Beijing via Guagzhou. I have a 3 hours layover in CAN.

Do I get 72 hours visa in CAN or PEK? Second question, do I have to get my luggage in CAN and then re-check it in again for PEK or my luggage can be booked directly from SYD to PEK? I am flying on China Southern all the way. Thanks.

Finally, you will reach Beijing, right?
If so, you cannot enjoy the 72-hour free transit, because this policy is only applicable for passengers making international transfering. You needs to get your luggage in CAN and then pass the immigration. Then you need to check it again for PEK.

No I will be in Beijing for less than 72 hours and will be flying onwards to USA. So Beijing is not my final destination. Thanks for answering one part of my question, the other part is: if I change flight in CAN with a layover of 3 hours, do I get my 72 hour free visit in CAN or in PEK? If it's CAN, would it an issue?

Sorry, 72 hours free transit isn't applicable in your situation. You should apply for a G type (Transit type) in advance before you go to China.

I am traveling from Sydney to Beijing on a one-way ticket on airline A, staying in Beijing less than 72 hours, and then going to USA on a separate one-way ticket by airline B. Can I avail 72-hour visa in this situation? Thanks
