can toronto chinese embassy assist with lost hk birth certificate?

Instead of me going back to HK to get my birth certificate, does the chinese embassy in Toronto assist with the application of lost HK birth certificates? If they do, can HK birth certificates be mailed to them and so I can pick it up at the chinese embassy?

The Chinese embassy may not help you on this issue, because the HK ID card can only be got from HK government. You can furthur consult the embassy for asking. Probably, you need to go back to HK and report to Registration of Persons Office directly.
