HK airport to Macau plus Macau to Guangzhou

Hello all
Plan is clearer now. But I need to know the logistics of going to Macau from Hong Kong airport in the morning
And going from Macau in the late afternoon to GZ by ferry would it be? Would I need to purchase these tickets ahead of time? If do, how? As I am in canada. This would happen on Semtember 28.
After landing in GZ from Macau via ferry, how would I get to my hotel on Beijing Road? Thanks!

From Hong Kong to Macau, it’s very easy. There are many ships running between, and you don’t have to book the tickets in advance.

But from Macau to Guangzhou, you are suggested to take a bus to Zhuahi first, because the ferry is not in service now. In Zhuhai Railway Station, west to Gongbei Port, You can take a train to Guangzhou, and it takes about 1 hour.

Thank you. Do this train to GZ....would this be the one that ends up at east train station on GZ or some other one? Curious you say 1 hour bc I was thinking this trip from Macau to GZ would take 4 hours.

From your place in Macau, you can go to Border Gate and then go through the immigration to Zhuhai Gongbei. Then walk to the nearby Zhuhai Light Rail Station to take a fast train to Guangzhou South. After getting there, take local subway line 2 to Haizhu Plaza. Then you can walk to Beijing Road in 10-15min or take a taxi to your hotel exactly in several minutes.

Many bullet trains operate between Zhuhai and Guangzhou from 07:00 to 22:45. It takes 1-1.5 to arrive Guangzhou. I wanna remind you that it usually takes 30-60min to cross the immigration at Gongbei Border.

Thank you. So is the immigration after boarding the train or before? So the plan is to tour Macau but buy my ticket for going to Guangzhou as soon as I land by ferry in Macau. Tour Macau and then go to Guangzhou. I would only need 1 single visa entry ?

The immigration would be before boarding the train. If you will land at Macao Maritime Ferry Terminal, take bus no. AP1 to the Border Gate for the customs and then to Zhuhai to catch the train to your destination.

As Macau is regarded as an international area, a single visa is enough to enter Zhuhai and then Guangzhou. Don't worry!

Thanks Samuel.
After landing in Macau I actually want to see Macau, especially the "dai Sam baar"....so from sightseeing, how would I get to the border gate? Would it be this same AP1 bus? Then take another bus to zhuhai or return to same bus? My other option is to return to Kowloon to take the train from kowloon to QuangzhouW.. Which. Route is easier to do to get to Guangzhou? Would the border crossing be easier to do by this train? Which station would I catch a direct train, the most direct train? Thx!

You can walk from Da San Ba (the ruins) to Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro to take bus no. 3A, 3, 5 or 10 to the Border Gate. Then walk to the immigration to Zhuhai. This way to Guangzhou is much easiler and time-saving than going back to HK for transfer.

Thank you Samuel. So I would take a taxi as soon as my ferry lands in Macau to go to the ruins? Then take bus to border, and then walk to immigration. any need to reserve my seats on this bus? After immigration take either train or bus to Guangzhou? Which is more pleasant? Any need to reserve my seats here?
I will be doing this on sept 28 a Sunday. I hope I would get a seat going to Guangzhou.
I will my luggage with me 1 suitcase .. Any idea what I can do with it when I go sightseeing in Macau? Wheel it around with me or store it somewhere? HK currency good enough?
Thx!

No need to book any ticket for Macau buses. Just hop on and insert enough changes. And it is better to use high speed train from Zhuhai to Guangzhou, for which route you can see the scenery and it is more time-saving. There are many fast trains in operation every day, so you can get a ticket on arrival. Don't worry!

The places you will arrive in Macao are all not far between. As you will take taxis, I would recommend you store your lugagge at the ferry terminal. After all, it is not convenient to travel with luggage.

At last, HKD can be widely used in Macau and HK. To Zhuhai and Guangzhou, you'd better exchange Chinese yuan.

Thanks for all your help Samuel! Hmmm....I am guessing I better have some Macao money to use their buses. How much macao money should I have with me? This is probably the only time I will be in Macau. Thanks! There is two of us.

The bus fare in Macao is very cheap. For the buses I mentioned above, it costs 3.2-4MOP per person for a single trip. For two of you, 50MOP is totally enough for the public buses.

Is there any bus from the Macau ferry terminal to go to da Sam ba?
Anyone know if worthwhile to book a tour in Macau, or is it so small a place the one should be able to do on their own? Not for gambling, but to see if it is any thing like vegas.
Thanks for the help Samuel, if you are ever in Vancouver, BC. I hope to be of help to you someday.

Hi all
Like to share some info with you all. Re going to Macau....the ferry tickets for the early ferries were all bought by scalpers. We ended up having to buy the 11 o'clock ferry, BUT with this ticket one can stand in the stand-by line up and we were allowed on an earlier ferry without having to pay the scalper's prices. No need to bus it to the tourist spots, just take the free casino buses which were all waiting at the ferry terminal. We stored our luggage at the ferry terminal, but could have done this for free at the casino.
Do not stay at the Louidan apt hotel, it is far from thee MT4 and hard to find. The outlet centres most stores do not accept foreign Visa credit cards. Also the ATM machine does not work with foreign bank card too....so bring cash. Tee Mall has the best bakery. Shopping in macau is just like in HK.the Ladies Street in HK is not really worthwhile to shop unless it is for purses and tacky souvenirs. Do not buy the daily passes while in Guangzhou bc singles are much cheaper .
