can you travel chinachange from a tourist visa to a working z type??

I am currently in Ireland and would like to travel to Shanghai, China on a tourist L. If I like it I would hope to find work teaching English. Does anyone know if it is possible to change from a tourist to a work Z or must I be in my home country to apply??

According to the rules, it is not allowed to change a tourist one to a work Z. You can try to find a job in China. After you get the work permit and an invitation letter in China, you need to go to a third country for application. It is not necessary to apply in your home country. You can just go to HK or a Asian country for applying.
