Trying to decide - fly to Beijing or Train

I will be spending 2 weeks in Shanghai but do not want to leave China before seeing the great wall.
What's the quickest and most hassle free way to get to Beijing from Shanghai?

I can depart Shanghai on Saturday October 25 or Sunday Oct 26.. but I need to fly out of the country on the Sunday evening or Monday morning..

Any advise would be great!
