About:Chinese Consulate in Melbourne

I would like to travel to Shanghai for 8 days with a German passport. Do I need a visa?

I'm staying in Melbourne, Australia on a student visa for a year (subclass 575) and have a German passport. Now I would like to visit Shanghai for 8 days in September/October.

Yes, you need to apply for a L type. It requires your passport, filled application form, a recent passport photo, round-trip air tickets, hotel reservation in Shanghai and copies of your passport information page and your resident permit for study in Melbourne. The application should be submitted to CVASC branch in Melbourne.
