Do I need a visa for Japan?

Hello, this might be a stupid question..

I am a Dutch citizen and I just received my temporary residence permit so I can do an internship in China (Before I used to have an X2 type for my exchange program in China). I haven't found an internship yet, but I do want to travel in the upcoming weeks. I am planning to go to Tokyo, and I am wondering if I need to apply for a visa to enter Japan. So in short, do I need something else except for my temporary residence permit to enter Japan?

Thank you.

If you just go to Japan for a short term visit, you can only use your passport to go there.
For more details, you can call the Embassy of Japan in China for asking and their phone number is 010-6532-2007.

I forgot to mention that I am in China right now. So I want to go to Japan just for a few days, and then go back to China, to start searching for the internship again. Is having a passport with the 'residence permit' good enough for that?

According to the policy, the passport and th residence permit in China are enough. If you can provide your round trip tickets and hotel booking or other travel documents, it will be much better.
