About:China Visa Application in UK

Chinese visa for uk citizen travelling from Canada

I'm planning to travel to Shanghai for a week from Vancouver in a months time, and am wondering about my situation as a UK citizen. Do I visit the Chinese embassy in Vancouver and apply in person? Do I apply online and hope it is processed in time (a month)?

Any advice anyone could offer would be very much appreciated.

Ollie, you should apply from the nearest CVASC branch instead of Chinese embassy. They don't provide online service. However, you can send your application to them by post. It usually takes 4 or 5 working days.

Thanks very much indeed. It appears that one of my required documents will be 'proof of legal status' although I'm unsure what is meant by this, and it doesn't seem to be clarified anywhere. Do you happen to know what this refers to?

The "proof of legal status" means that your permanent resident card, work permit or studying permit in Canada or other docuements to show your legal status in that country.
It is not needed to be clarified.
