Tourist visa extensions and working type

My employer has applied for my working type, currently I am on my second tourist one in a row (I had my first one, then got an extension, then went to Hong Kong for my current visa and I am looking to extend my current one while I wait for my working type to come through. I heard rumours that getting extensions will make it more difficult to get a working one, is this true?

I did not hear this kind of information before. The extension will not affect your Z type, but it is suggested to apply for Z in another country instead of HK to make sure you can get your Z in the end.

Thanks Grace, i'm applying for my visa in China, although i'm not sure whether I can go to the local PSB office and get my Z there without going to HK.
