Can I travel to Malaysia or Thailand for Z visa?

I'm a Ghanaian married to a Chinese. I've been offered employment by a college which is now prrcessing my documents. I'v been told to travel out of China to take a Z.

Both Malayisa and Thailand are OK, so maybe you can choose one that you can get much cheaper fligts' tickets.
