About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Traveling from SFO - Shanghai Pudong - HKG - SFO

If I stay in Shanghai less than 24 hours (US Citizen), do I need to have a Visa for this business trip?

No, it is not required. You enjoy free entry for such a short visit. But you need to apply for a free stay permit after arrival at the airport.
