Can you please tell me how long it will take you to process this request so that I can plan accordingly.

I have received an invitation letter for employment in China and will have to come to your consulate in oder to get the relevant Z-Visa.

Hi, the processing takes 4 working days if you have all documents well-prepared. For work Z application, you should provide both invitation letter and work permit/Employment permit.
