You need to visit Chinese consulate in Melbourne in person for application of new Chinese passport. Appointment is required. So prepare following documents:
1. Application form for passport
2. 2 passport sized photo
3. A copy of your lost passport if any. Or a copy of other identity such as your hukou book, Chinese ID and birth certificate.
4. Police Report.
5. Your valid Australian visa/residence permit (original and copy).
