what type of visa I need to apply and what are the documents required to be submitted.

I am a Technical consultant and have invitation letter of visit from my China client.

You need to apply for a business F type with the letter from your client. Other basic documents include your original passport, application form, photo. If possible, round-trip ticket and hotel booking are also helpful.
