z visa application in a third country

Question

I am a UK national and would like some advice regarding the likely hood the Chinese consulate in Brazil in  processing my application for a Z. I have all the necessary documentation completed, however I am currently staying in Brazil as a tourist and intend to fly straight to China, rather than stopping off at the UK. Any advice would be appreciated.
