About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

I am an American, arriving in Beijing from Mongolia via the Trans-Mongolian Railroad.

1) Can I apply for a Transit G Visa?

2) If so how long would that allow me to stay in China for?

3) Is the arrival date for the Transit G? Meaning once I arrive, I have to leave within a certain time frame, but that date will not be triggered until I arrive in China?

You can apply for transit G type, which allows 7-10 days (generally for 7 days only). 7 day duration starts from the following day of entry.
