My L type was converted to a working residence permit now I want to change visas. What should I do?

I came to china on a L visa and unexpectedly began working for some important people here. The company converted my L to a residence permit. Now I want to change my L with residence permit visa to a Z type for a new company within China once my current job is done. How can I do this? Do I need to leave and come back?
