Want to vist Kashgar by Road

I want to ask 3 things:

1. I want to visit Kashgar by road with my family - We will be two adults and two kids. How can we get a tourist visa as we are not travelling in a tourist group. As for invitation, we do not know any Chinese who can invite us. We only intend to stay for 2-3 days. Purpose is to enjoy the scenic Pak-China Bordering cities.

2. Will i have any issues as i have PAkistani driving license? as the vehicle will be my office vehicle with an authority letter to drive it. Ofcourse i will carry original registration documents of the vehicle.

3. Do i did not get advance hotel booking done as we are not sure which day we will reach as we travel slowly by road with many pit stops due to kids. Is hotel booking a must?
