For bargain shopping areas, you are suggested to go Chenghuangmiao area, near the Yuyuan Garden to have a look.

In that area, you can bargain in most of the stores.

Your hotel is close to People's Square, so you can walk to that place to take the local subway line 2 to reach East Nanjing Road Station, where you can change to line 10 to Tiantong Road Station. Get out of the station from Exit 6 and you can easily see the market.
