About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I want to leave the airport and go to a hotel, so I would like to apply for a free visa for transit.

Hello,
I am Mexican, I have a Chitose-Shanghai-Frankfurt flight, and I will be staying overnight in Shanghai (less than 24 hours). I think I meet all the requirements, and I talked to someone from my airline (china eastern) and they told me they do not handle any requests about this. Can I apply for the free transit right after my landing?

Thank you for your help

Hi, for a stopover within 24 hours in Shanghai, you just need to apply for a free stay permit after arrival at the airport. Don't worry, it is easy and you just need to show your passport, flight ticket and fill a form for it.

If your stopover is about 30 hours, you need to inform your airline about this free transit request. Then they are able to email your details to the airport before landing. You just need apply for a 72 hr free transit permit after arrival at the airport.
