About:Shanghai Travel

Transfering in Shanghai for around 17 hours.

My family will travel to Rome in july by china eastern airlines and we will stop in shanghai 17 hs on one way and 6 hs in return way, we want to stay at a hotel because it will be at night and we will travel with kids.
We have italian and argentinian citizenship, and we got the residence here in new zealand.
I want to know if we need a visa or any transits permits.
Thanks

The visa is not needed.
You just need to apply for a stay permit in the Pudong airport to get out of it at the spot.
Since you stay over twice, you need to apply for two permits seperately when you arrive at the airport.
