Can an Australian tourist get PRC visa Kathmandu?

I have an Australian passport and will be travelling in Nepal for 3 months before going to China. Can I get it in Nepal or do I have to go back to Australia to get it? Thanks, Helena

Hi, it is possible for you to get it in Kathmandu. So, don't worry.

Dear Derek, thanks for your reply telling me that I, as an Australian citizen, can get a G or L type for PRC in Kathmandu. I will only need it because of two necessary transits on my way back to Sydney. Can I ask you - are you another tourist or are you a MFA official? If you are an official then I know that your opinion can be relied upon. If you are another tourist then I am a bit worried that I might get stuck during my transit in Guangzhou and Shanghai because I will have to exit onto PRC land twice. Please excuse this inquiry but I foolishly chose a return ticket that takes me Kathmandu-Bangkok-Guangzhou-Shanghai-Sydney. It means that I will need a domestic flight CAN-Shanghai and change the airports in Shanghai. A complicated ticket and all my fault for buying it and getting stuck with needing a visa. Thank you for your patience, Helena

Helena, I am not an official. I just found many cases that foreigners applied their Chinese L types successfully in Nepal. However, I can not guarantee that you will get it 100 percent for sure.
