overnight layover in urumqi airport.

Question

I am flying from Beijing to Bishkek, and I have a 13 hour overnight layover in Urumqi.  Will I be able to leave the airport and stay at a hotel during this layover, or will I need to stay at the airport?  Thanks.

Hi, Chris. According to the rules, you can apply for a stay permit and then get out of the airport since you stay there for no more than 24 hours. But considering the local condition, whether you can get the permit or not is hard to tell. Sorry for that. I will already have a visa as I will be in China for 2 weeks prior. Do I still need a permit to leave the airport if I have a visa?

No, you don't! You will be allowed to get out of the airport with a China visa!
