About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Will the 72 hour transit apply if I'm flying to Guangzhou and taking a train to Hong Kong?

We are US Citizens and arriving at Guangzhou at 9pm. We would like to take a train to Hong Kong. Will the 72 hour transit apply to us or do we need to apply for a transit G type? Thanks for your time.

Sorry, you are not able to enjoy 72 hours free transit. You need to apply for a L type in advance before you go to Guangzhou.
