About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am from South Africa and travelling on a South African Passport . I am travelling to Phuket via Beijing.

My journey will start (25 June 2014) in Johannesburg to Beijing with South African Airways arriving in Beijing 20h50 . I then need to collect my luggage because my onward flight is at 02h50 (26 June 2014) with Cathy Pacific. Do I need a transit visa to go to my next flight. My wife will be travelling with me.

Regards
Michael Esau

No, it is not necessary, you just need to apply for a free stay permit after arrival at the airport for this transit.
