About:Map of China Provinces & Cities

I'm told, in Baoding, visitors are not allowed to stay in home of a Chinese family. Is this correct?

I have a Chinese friend who lives in Baoding, who I met in Germany 3 years ago. We have corresponded since then. When I wrote I was hoping to visit China this year, and would like to stay a few days with him, he replied, saying I was not allowed by council rules, to stay in house of Chinese residents, but must stay in hotels. I just wonder if this is true, or if he just does not want me to stay with him.

According to what I know, you can stay with him and lives in his house. You should register at the nearest police station for the temporary residence together with him with 24 hours when you arrive. He should bring his household registration book and you bring your passport and valid visa.

Maybe, Baoding has different regulations. In fact, it's more convenient to live inside a hotel. You needn't register at the police station. When you check in at the hotel, the hotel updates the data with the police station.
