I am a US citizen married to a Guatemalan citizen.  I am taking a job in Shanghai that begins in August.  How do I coordinate my Z type with my wife's type?

Hi, your wife should apply for a S type if she wants to come with you to PRC.

Thank you Serena; however, I need to be more specific.  Where do I have my visa processed, Houston, USA (for me) or San Jose, CR (for her) or both?

If she lives together with you in the USA, then she can file her application to the Chinese consulate in your area. She has to provide her legal resident permit or visa in the USA when she submits her application. If she can't, then she should go back to her country and apply from the Chinese embassy there.
