Beijing for less than 72 hrs - Twice in 2 weeks

We fly from London to Beijing on 23 April, then depart on 25 April to Manila via Hong Kong. Does this work for a free 72 hr transit visa?
Then we fly Manila to Hong Kong on 3 May, stay for 3 days, then fly on to Beijing for overnight before returning to London. Again does this qualify even though coming via Hong Kong for 3 days?
