I am planning to travel to visit Shanghai multiple times this year to visit a very close friend who has just moved there, I want to apply for the 12 month multiple entry visa. I do not yet know every date I will visit nor do I know the address I will stay at. How detailed do section 2.6 and 2.8 need to be?

For section 2.6, you can write Shanghai- your friend's address. And fill 2.8 with your friend's information, providing an invitation letter from him/her, as well as a copy of his/her passport and residence permit.
