About:Means of Transportation in Kashgar

Can I go to Guangzhou from Kashgar by train?

Hi, I am planning to go to Guangzhou during the second half of April. I am thinking of entering china by road through gilgit and then go to guangzhou my train or road. Will it be possible? How much will be the expenses? And how much time will it take?

Yeah, it is possible. After entering China by road, you can take a train from Ha-Shih to Urumqi first, which takes a little longer than 24h. Then at Urumqi, there is only one train to Guangzhou (T36/T37) and it takes around 48h. Train to Urumqi costs 76.5-189RMB for a hard seat and sleepers cost 182.5-527.5RMB per person. And the train to Guangzhou costs 423.5-1,286.5RMB for hard seats or sleepers.

As it takes so much time, I suggest you take plane to travel. I know plane no. CZ6885 of China Southern Airlines flies from Ha-shih to Guangzhou with a stopover at Urumqi and sometimes, there are great discounts for the air ticket fees. It takes a little longer han 7h for the whole journey.

Thanks for replying Emily. Can you give me a rough idea how much the air fare will be from Urumqi to Guangzhou.

It takes $850 to fly directly from Islamabad to Guangzhou through China Southern. So I would prefer to fly directly if there is not much difference as I will also have to pay expenses from Islamabad to Gilgit.

However, I can do that if the journey from Kashgar to Guangzhou is good. Is it safe and comfortable or what?

Hi, Talha.
It is hard to tell the exact price of flight tickets, because if you can buy in advance, you may get a large discount. As I know, the Southern Airline and Hainan Airlines have flights from Urumqi to Guangzhou. So you may look for more information on their official website, or you can find the price on this website.
For me, I book a ticket last year this time and found the ticket price is around 900 to 1200RMB and I heard the full price ticket is around 2700RMB for general economy seat.
The direct flight from Kashgar to Guangzhou is available and it is safe and comfortable. You can have a try I think.

Hi Berlin, thanks for the guidance. I have visited the official website of China Southern Airline. Direct flight from Kashgar to Guangzhou is too costly. I have found there is a "Special Offer" page on their website. I saw their is a offer for flight from Urumqi to Guangzhou for just 850 RMB but its for tomorrow, while I have to travel in the second half of April. I will keep checking their website to look for any special offers during my travelling dates. If I can get a air ticket from Urumqi to Guangzhou at a good rate then I can use train from Kashgar to Urumqi. I think at the same time I should keep looking for a cheap flight from Kashgar to Urumqi
