Not sure what visa to apply for

My Girlfriend is planning to get a job teaching English in China.

I am hoping to be able to work remotely with my current employer in UK (pending approval from my employer). She is planning to stay for 6 months, am I able to get one which will enable me to both stay in the country for 6 months and remain employed by a company based in the UK?

I am afraid not, because you are not married yet. In your situation, you can only apply for a tourist L type for short visit. It is very difficult for you to get 6 month one.
