About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

Passport authentication/notarization

I work for a corporation in the U.S. that has an affiliate in China with a bank account at a local bank in Beijing to which I have online banking access. My online banking access will soon expire and needs to be renewed and the Beijing bank branch is mandating that I ship my original passport to them to complete the token renewal. I would prefer not to ship my passport overseas. Can the Chinese Consulate authenticate/notarize a copy of my U.S. passport so I can help the bank in Beijing get comfortable with me not sending my passport to them?

Sorry, you should better contact the bank in Beijing if they accept the authentication or not to renew your online banking access in lieu of the original passport. As I know, Chinese embassy provides the authentication service for documents to be used in China.
