visa for macau from Hong Kong?

Hello I am a citizen of Nepal and studying at Hong Kong, I have HKID card valid for 1 year, do I need to apply for visa to enter macau? I am planning to stay just for a week under the educational tour from the Hong Kong university. Other fellow nepalese students said they didnt needed to apply when they went to macau. Please clarify.
