guilin to hong kong - via guangzhou train/boat is cheapest?

My 11 y.o. daughter and I must travel from Guilin to HK on the morning of 7/2.  I've priced the flights from Guilin to Hong Kong, and it would cost about $600.00 for both of us to fly via Dragon Air.  Is there a more economical way?  The flight from Guilin to Guangzhou is not nearly as expensive, and we would be willing to travel by train or boat to HK from there to arrive before 2 pm.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.  We would like the travel cost to be under 300.00 USD for us both.

To travel from Guilin to Guangzhou and then transfer to Hk shall be a good choice and it will cost less. I just searched the fare for an economy class air ticket from Guilin to Guangzhou (On Feb. 7, there is a plane leaving at 08:00 in the morning). It costs 110US per person. Upon arrival Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, you can local subway line 3 to Guangzhou East Railway Station, where there are direct trains to Hung Hom, HK and it costs 190HK per adult and your son also need to buy an adult ticket.
