20-day tourist visit

Question

I'm planning on visiting China for a 20 day period. During this period I'd also like to visit Vietnam. Since my flight is Venice-Beijing and return Beijing-Venice, would I need a double entry visa (for my way back from Vietnam to Beijing)?Also, I'm going on my own without any friends in China. Can I apply for V only with my airplane tickets, without invitation letter?Thank you!

Yes, you can apply for tourist L with flight ticket and hotel booking. But if you need to visit Viernam in between, you need to get a double entry L.
