About:Chinese Embassy in Costa Rica

I from England travelling to Costa Rica. Can I get a visa from the Chinese Embassy in San Jose?

I am a British citizen who is travelling to Costa Rica for a month. I subsequently travelling to China three months from then. Will it be possible to get it from the Chiense embassy in San Jose?

I am afraid not because the embassy requires you to provide proof of residence status there for application. Most likely they do not accept applications from temporary visitor. Anyway, you can contact the embassy directly for further confirmation.

Is that policy the same for obtaining a family visa? i.e. visiting a family member who is studying in China?

Yes, the requirement are the same no matter what type of visa you apply for.
