About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

can i go out of the Shanghai Pudong airport with any special permits?

I am an Indian national with Canadian residence travelling to Australia via pudong airport. I have around 10 hours transit time at pudong airport. Can I go out for some small shopping without a transit visa with any specific permission?

If you have Canadian passport, you can get out of the airport for about ten hours.
In order to get out of the airport, you need to get a stay permit in the airport.

I don't have Canadian passport. Some sites says anyone can apply for special 24 hour stopover permit with conditions to leave the restricted area by visiting the immigrations at the airport. Is it true?

Yes, it is true. You can apply for an stay permit at the airport, with which you are allowed to get out of theairport for a short visit or shopping.

I got 24,hour stopover permit. Need to go to the special counter at the immigration. Got the stay permit by showing the boarding pass for the connection flight.They even didn't ask about the reason for stay over.
