I have return flight uk to beijing can I use 72 hour free visa with one way flight to Hong Kong?

I am then flying back from Hong Kong to beijing using 72 hour free transit is this possible or do I have to get one in Hong Kong

I am a bit confused. If your itinerary is UK-Beijing-HK or HK-Beijing-UK, you can enjoy 72 hours free transit in Beijing.

I am going uk beijing Hong Kong spending 3 days in Hong Kong then flying back from Hong Kong to beijing to uk
I have booked one way flights to and from beijing to Hong Kong to take advantage of 72 hour visa free
Will I get this visa doing it this way.
