we are going to hong kong thru beijing do we clear customs & imigration in both the two cities?

As I know, any international transfer passenger needs to go through the immigration at BJ. But if you hold the connecting flight boaridng pass, I remember the custom clearance is not needed. Then you just need to clear customs in HK then.0
