Can a US citizen with a criminal record (felony) get a visa to live in China with a PRC spouse?

It depends on whether you can apply for the appropriate visa successfully. You are required to confess whether you have criminal record when filling the form. In case of any trouble, many people check "No" even they have criminal record. However, I don't know if the embassy checks your background or not.
