Tourist visa for British/Australian

I have a British and an Australian passport. Can I apply for a tourist type at the consulate in Istanbul using one of these passports? I can't apply at the consulates in Britain or Australia as I have no plans to be in either of those countries before I visit China (I am currently in Greece, traveling to Turkey soon, and then on to China).
