tourist visa for british/australian

Question

I have a British and an Australian passport. Can I apply for a tourist type at the consulate in Istanbul using one of these passports? I can't apply at the consulates in Britain or Australia as I have no plans to be in either of those countries before I visit China (I am currently in Greece, traveling to Turkey soon, and then on to China).

I am afraid that you might fail to apply for it in Turkey. As the embassy requires, the applicants who apply in the third country or region must provide the legal status there, for example, the resident permit for working or studying.
