Canada - Shanghai - Honk Kong

I am arriving from Canada to Shanghai airport , staying overnight and leaving to Hong Kong within 24 hours , would the 72 hour exemption work for me ? And would it work in reverse on the way back but staying less than 72 hours ?

Hi, for a stopover less than 24 hours, you just need to apply for a free stay permit after arrival. For your flight back to Canada with a stopover more than 24 hours but less than 72 hours, you can avail this 72 hour exemption. So, you just need to inform your carrier airline before boarding the plane to Shanghai so that the permit will be issued on arrival.
