About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240 hour Visa Free

Hello, as a Canadian would I be eligible for the visa free 240 hour going to Guangzhou by ferry from Hong Kong? Could I then fly out of Guangzhou airport to any other country?

Would it also be possible to reverse this route two weeks later and obtain another 240 hour visa free flying into Guangzhou from a foreign country and exit by ferry to Hong Kong? Would it also be possible to exit Guangzhou by train as well to Hong Kong in this case?

Sam, yes, your both itineraries are definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit - twice and you can do that. It is important to understand the following details in order to eliminate any misunderstanding. You can take a ferry from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, but be careful, only a ferry from Hong Kong to Nansha (a harbor located south from Guangzhou) is eligible for this option! Also, your stay in mainland China has to be at least 1 minute longer than 24 hours in order to be eligible for 240 hour visa free transit, based on your scheduled arrival and departure times. You will need a confirmed flight ticket from Guangzhou to a third country even before you depart from Hong Kong. Also, when returning, you will arrive by plane and after that you can continue by train to Hong Kong, but again, your stay should be longer than 24 hours and your train ticket bought even before you depart from that third country toward Guangzhou. Have a nice journeys.

Thank you! Is there a specific time the visa office is open/closed at the Nanshan Ferry Pier (Guangzhou) in order to obtain the 240 hour visa?

Just to confirm they do not allow this visa on the way into Guangzhou by train right but I can exit via train right?

Don't worry. The opening hours of the visa office is in accordance with the ferry schedule. It will open when you arrive from HK.

You're right. To be eligible for 240-hour visa-free stay, you cannot reach Guangzhou by train, but can exit via it.
