About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

10 hour stop over in Beijing - Is sightseeing possible in this timeframe?

I'm arriving in BJ from an international flight from Amsterdam on 9 December. My ticket says that my stop over in BJ will be 10 hours. I have a UK passport and I noticed from the list that I do not need a passport to enter China for a short period. Therefore:
1) Will I be allowed to exit BJ airport to do a bit of sightseeing before boarding my connecting flight?
2) Is 10 hours enough time (I just want to see the Forbidden City and Tiannanmen, have lunch and go back to the airport)?
3) Do I still need to collect my luggage even if I'm a transfer passenger? ...According to my ticket my connecting flight is with the same airline (but different flight number). Sorry I'm not very experienced with long-haul flights
Thanks for your help :)

Yes, you are right. You are allowed to get out of the aiport and do a traveling on your own.

Time is enough, but you need to hurry up when you travel. Three to four hours are enough for visiting the Forbidden City in general. The rest of time can be used to see the Tiananmen Suqare and other sites on that square such as Great Hall of the People and have lunch. After that you can take the airport shuttle bus line 2 to go back to airport from Xidan.

Since you have the same airline's ticket, you do not need to collect your luggage and then recheck. But in order to make sure, it is suggested to consult the airline company directly for sure.
