About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Train to Guangzhou

I am currently living in Wuhan, China, but will be going home to America in late January. I plan to take a train from Wuhan to Guangzhou in January and from Guangzhou, to fly home to America. Can I take advantage of this new 72-hour visa free stay in Guangzhou?

Hi, if you have valid visa living in Wuhan, you can visit Guangzhou freely with it. Actually, you can visit any city within mainland except Tibet where you should get a entry permit.

Hi, Neil. Thanks for your answer. I guess my original question wasn't very clear. My current one expires Jan. 20th. I was hoping to stay in Guangzhou for another 72 hours after mine expires and take advantage of this new one. Is it possible to do so coming by train from Wuhan, then after 72 hours, fly out to America?

Sorry, I don't think you can do that. You must leave Guangzhou before your current one expires. If it expires and you haven't left PRC yet, you will have trouble when you leave. If you already book the air ticket, please extend your current one in advance.
